“The inherent is to tremble” stemmed from artistic research conducted at La Motte-au-Duc in Rennes, France—a former pediatric hospital specializing in childhood mental health conditions. Set amidst wooded grounds, the site became the target of rapid real estate speculation and, by 2025, had almost completely disappeared, erasing its vibrational memory. Struck by this erasure, Morilla developed a project exploring destruction, memory, and institutional violence.
The artwork interwove visual and sound documentation gathered in situ with augmented reality plant fictions and digital drifts (Google Street View, Maps, Earth). In the gallery, the video installation was complemented by a kinetic sculpture built from two original hospital chairs. Mechanized and sonified using contact microphones, these "material witnesses" operated live as part of the performative experience, embodying both the techno-economic noise and the violence exerted upon vulnerable bodies.
Superimposed as material and informational layers, they directly conditioned and disrupted the viewer's perceptual experience.
The installation’s title references both the vibrations of a building undergoing demolition and the tremors of the vulnerable children who once inhabited it. Here, amid tremors and demolitions, art emerged as an exercise in forensic memory, fragmented into layered narratives of loss and resilience.
